Wellington: Day 9
Dec 04
Today we decided to visit the Carter Observatory on the Botanic Garden.

On the Linden Station while we were waiting Sarai decided to strike some poses while Sol took pictures of her, the result were about 30 pictures of different poses of Sarai, from which I will show you a few:

Then on the CBD Sarai found a nice sculpture by which she wanted her photo taken:

The Observatory is not too big, but they do have some really nice exhibitions involving all things about the universe, also we were able to attend a Planetarium show which is a 45 min picture and a small description on the stars you can see from New Zealand.
For example, we learned that contrary to what happend on the North hemisphere, down here you locate the South and then make sense of all the other directions from there. Also the night sky in New Zealand is amazing, is one of the best spots in the world to see the galaxy, and from December 15 we will be able to see Mercury, Mars and Jupiter in the sky.

The bathroom were from another world, literally 😀

The Thomas Cooke telescope:

On the Planetarium:

And this is the chart of the stars we are able to see on the night sky here in New Zealand:

After the Observatory we headed to the girls’ favourite playground:

And finally back the Cable Car to head home:

It seeem that was a great trip. I´m going to save money for make a travel next year, I´ll going to visit the museoum and the observatory.
