Wellington: Day 3

Today we did our first trip to the CBD (Central Business District) also refered as Wellington City.

We decided that since we have a long time to really know the city, today we would focus on doing a overview of the city, that means doing a lot of walking to see the different areas.

First thing we have to do is take the train from Linden Station to Wellington’s Railway Station. The train takes about 18 minutes to reach our destination and the train usually passes every 30 minutes.

From the station we headed to the Bolton Street Memorial Park, which is a cementary converted into a park, it might sound kind of creepy but the park is quite beautiful with some great walks. The cementary is really old so you are able to see some deadbeds from the early 1800’s.

After the park we continued to the Botanic Garden, which is another amazing sight and a huge garden.

From the Botanic Garden we took the Cable car down to Lambton Quay. Lambton Quay used to be the original shore line of Welllington but an eartquake in the 1800’s extended the shore line, so it’s now a street.

In the city we walked all over the city, I really loved the vibe of it, it reminded me a lot of San Francisco. It has a little bit of everything and it has a metropoli-feel to it.

On of our favourite spots was Cuba Mall a little street filled with every type of business.

Did you know? Wellington is the city with more cafes per capita in the world. The second place belongs to New York.

It was a very tiring day, we did a whole lof of walking and in by the time we got back home our feet were aching. There is a lot to see in Wellington, and in the weeks we still have we will be going one place at a time, so expect to get more photos from the city soon.
