The Overlander
Nov 24
We decided to travel from Auckland to Wellington using the Overlander. The Overlander is a scneic train, it takes you through an amazing path full of sceneries of New Zealand.
The trip itselt is a rather long one, about 12 hours, Wellington is about 600km away from Auckland but the reason the train takes so long is that it slows down when going through landmarks and it has a bunch of stops along the way.
The train departed at 7:25 am and we needed to be there 20 minutes before departure at the Britomart station in Auckland.

We got actually good seats, since there were four of us they were able to give us seats along a small table we came quite handy for the girls because it allowed them to color and play with their new play-doh stuff.

The train ride was amazing, it acually wasn’t as hard as you would suppose for a 12 hour ride, but since we were on a train the girls were able to move around and we did have a long stop on National Park that allowed us to get out of the train for 30 minutes.
We took a lot of pictures of which we will share some of them with you:

On National Park we made a 30 miute stop. This place had a great view as we were able to look at two of New Zealand’s volcanoes, Mt Rupeahu.

Ok, we went on our way again š

Near the last hour of the trip, the girls just dozed off:

Finally we arrived at our destination Porirua, which is on the Greater Wellington area and just 15min away from the CBD.

Wow.. quƩ vistas.

Unas hermosas princesas deben dormir en una gran cama, aunque veo que hoy prefirieron vivir la experiencia de dormir en los asientos de un tren.
Que ternuritas!
